An update on Mom Corps, compliments of Allison O’ Kelly

Mom Corps Opens its First 10 Franchises in Less than a Year – Mom Corps announced today the opening of four more franchises, marking major success and incredible growth in the company during the past year while so many businesses still struggle to survive. Most recently, Mom Corps added offices in Austin, Akron, Minneapolis, and Seattle. Mom Corps has continued to grow despite the recessionary climate. CEO, Allison O’Kelly says while companies are still not yet ready to hire a slew of permanent employees, they are strategically hiring temps/contractors for their businesses. She adds that Mom Corps’ clients are really seeing the value in hiring experienced professionals on a project basis. In the past year, Mom Corps also established franchises in Miami, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Cincinnati, Charlotte and Northern Virginia, in addition to their online web presence and existing corporate office in Boston. Mom Corps, founded in July 2005, provides professionals with tools and information to evaluate their career choices. In just five years, Mom Corps’ roster has grown to more than 40,000 candidates nationwide and its client base has expanded to several hundred companies, including Fortune 500 firms. Mom Corps is recruiting additional franchisees throughout the United States and will help qualified individuals start their own Mom Corps business, leveraging the nationally-recognized Mom CorpsĀ® brand and its resources.

Here is an update on what’s happening in the world of greeting cards, fitness and fun in Seattle from Maria Millsap

I’m continuing to grow Banana Blossom Press as we get into more retail stores in the Pacific Northwest, sponsor more events and continue to get involved in more running and walking events. My pursuit of always finding new fitness adventures and connecting with people in the fitness and exercise world inspired me to start a blog, Hills and Hammies, http://www.hillsandhammies.com. It’s a place to share my explorations and observations of what makes me sweat-happy in my city. The places to eat (healthy and otherwise), fitness related gadgets, activewear and people. I feature Seattle-area women and men who truly enjoy and take advantage of being fit. They run, walk, bike, swim ,climb, skip and jump. They’re athletes and I love that they love to sweat. In continuing with this theme, I am also currently working on organizing an expo featuring 50-75 local businesses representing different fitness activities under one roof. It will be scheduled sometime in early Spring of 2011. Imagine exploring and talking with experts about yoga, rowing,pole-dancing, boot camp, trapeze, running, double-dutch, biking, martial arts and others in a safe and fun environment. It’s the time of year where most people are starting to think about getting in shape for Spring and Summer. We will offer to the community information and a taste if you will, a myriad of activities to explore, all of which are great ways to get in shape. I get bored very easily with exercise and I am always in pursuit of new and fun ways to get my heart pumping. I thought it would be a fantastic idea to have all of these exciting choices available in one place.

I definitely have The T-Shirt to Prove it! It maybe a little sweaty, but

we love to sweat!

As a woman business owner, what daily challenges are you facing?

Tuesday, September 29th, 2009 by Sherry Sexton

I sometimes feel like I am swimming upstream, trying to juggle everything in my life, the business, the family, and finding the time for myself. There never seems to be enough hours in a day to accomplish the tasks before me. Yes, I have become more organized but it is definitely a work in progress.

I would love to hear about your daily struggles and challenges.
